"At this moment we are awaiting the live broadcast of a very special concert. Its authors believe that this project is absolutely unique. It's not very common that a symphony orchestra prepares a special dramaturgy to commemorate the anniversary of political events that are actually not very pleasant and complete the musical part with interpretations and discussions. But this is what awaits us today ", these are the words of the presenter Pavel Ryjáček, who hosted the event which took place on 27 February at Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art.
On the occasion of the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, the Czech Centre Seoul, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Seoul and the Studio of Media and Didactic Illustration presented the Czech Republic in a tent in the Gwanghwamun Olympic Zone placed on the square, just in front of the main royal palace Gyeongbokgung, which is located in the historical centre of the Korean Capital City of Seoul.
At the end of last year, there was a competition for young designers with a playful assignment. The task for students and designers was to design the cover of an Office Depot notebook for the year 2018. The topic was entitled "Trees for Life" and the Jury selected winners from nearly four hundred artworks. Kristýna Gregorová, the student of Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, won the second place.
On Saturday,17 of February, the Dramatic Studio in Ústi nad Labem hosted the premiere of the theatrical adaptation of the famous novel by Ray Bradbury "Fahrenheit 451".
The main prize for the winner of the competition CS.KOMIKS.17 was the trip to Europe's biggest comics festival in Angoulême. The festival was also attended by the head of the department, the associate professor Barbara Šalamounová, together with the assistant Marie Kohoutová. Barbara Šalamounová shared her personal opinions on this event in a report.
Elena Pokaleva, a student of illustration and graphic design, won an award in the international competition entitled iJUNGLE Graphic Design Awards 2017.
Katsiaryna Karolik, a student of the Studio Comics and Illustration for Children headed by Barbara Šalamounová, won the Czech part of the competition CS.KOMIKS.17. Moreover, the next two places were also dominated by our students, Jana Vobořilová and Petra Šestáková.
Six exceptional artists will receive the Ladislav Sutnar Prize 2017.
The exhibition presents artwork of illustrators from Japan and Iran.
Diploma work of Adéla Wiesenbergrová from the Metal and Jewellery Design studio was selected for the Marzee International Graduate Show 2017.
