The Pilsen Philharmonic, in cooperation with the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and our Faculty, prepared a concert with compositions dedicated to the dangerous situation in then Czechoslovakia, which was endangered by Nazi Germany.
The project "Pilseñ" was carried out under the guidance of Renata Fučíková, the assistant professor at the Studio of Media and Didactic Illustrations.
The students of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art were inspired by Sutnar's work. This inspiration resulted in the book "Sutnar Shapes" which was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. The publication was released last fall and its concept and graphic design were created by the head of the Studio of Graphic Design, Kristýna Fišerová.
The graduate movie created by Marharita Tsikhanovich "SEA", which represents her successful graduation at the Studio of Animation and Interactive Art, has garnered numerous international awards and was screened at festivals in Mexico, Great Britain, Russia, Poland and many others. Its latest achievement is the participation in the International Animation Festival in Hiroshima, Japan.
Michaela Šimůnková and Adam Frk won the European competition "Shake the Future of the Footwear Sector", whose final round was held on Monday, June 25 in Milan, Italy. They competed with designers from Portugal, Spain and Italy and succeeded with shoes that seem to float on a large three-part sole.
An international film festival dedicated to animated films took place on the shores of Lac d'Annecy during the second week of June. The MIFA (Marché International du Film d'Animation) film market, which is according to the organizers, the largest animation event in the world, took place in parallel with the festival. The film "After" made by Matouš Valchář was the only Czech film presented in the section Graduation Films in Competition.
Students of the Studio of Media and Didactic Illustration won a special award at the seventh biennial exhibition of illustration which took place in Zagreb. The assistant professor Renata Fučíková was the winner of the Great Award which she received for her drawings adorning two books: "Prague in Heart" and "Franz Kafka".
The winner in the category for the best visual impression was the computer game "Under Leaves" which was created by a student of the Studio of Animation and Interactive Art Barbora Podhorská.
Richard Saul Wurman, the pioneer of the so-called "Information architecture", took the Ladislav Sutnar Prize on Tuesday, June 12. He was awarded the prestigious prize in the Pilsen City Hall by the hands of the Dean Josef Mištěra and Deputy and Secretary of the Mayor, Mr. Martin Baxa.
Faculty of Design and Art hosted Mr. Richard Saul Wurman, a pioneer of the so-called information architecture.
